OTIS — George A. Freidenberger, 81, died Aug. 2 at his home in Otis. He was born June 25, 1929, in Rush County, the son of George and Sophie (Kindsfater) Freidenberger. He was a 1947 graduate of Bison High School. He married Velma M. Kanaga on Oct. 17, 1954, at Otis. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was plant operator and office manager for Kansas Refined Helium (Linde) at Otis before his retirement.
Mr. Freidenberger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951 to 1953.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Timothy Freidenberger, Columbus, Ohio, and Paul Freidenberger, Houston, Texas; three brothers, Herbert Freidenberger, Dunedin, Fla., Alex Freidenberger, Bison, and Richard Freidenberger, Wichita; three sisters, Esther Brack and Helen Lorenz, both of Great Bend, and Ruth Ward, Ukiah, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elma Deines and Alice Kinsey.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse.
