George Joseph Gorsline, 90, of Great Bend, died Nov. 23 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. He was born Dec. 27, 1919, at Flushing, N.Y., the son of Walter and Stella (Bafalska) Gorsline. He married Lillian Elizabeth Alger. She died Jan. 11, 1976. He married Margaret Elizabeth Bender Dec. 16, 1978, at Great Bend. He was a truck driver and delivery man for McCurdy’s Hatchery. Mr. Gorsline was a Great Bend resident since 1951, coming from Flushing, N.Y. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations and receiving the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster.

Mr. Gorsline was a member of the Methodist faith. He was a former president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gorsline, of the home; one son, George Gorsline, Jr., of Gulfport, Miss.; two stepsons, Robert Willesden and wife Diane of Great Bend and Joseph Willisden and wife Evoynne of Alice, Texas; two stepdaughters, Edith Barton of Topeka and Joyce Burnham and husband Mike of Great Bend; a brother, Al Gorsline of New York; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa Kennedy.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Grummon officiant. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery with military rites to be conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Diabetes Association or for DAV (Disabled American Veterans) in care of the funeral home.
