George Robert Kasselman 1932 - 2016

George Robert Kasselman, 84, arrived safely in the arms of Jesus on Oct. 10, 2016, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born on Feb. 20, 1932, in rural Ellinwood he was the son of John and Bertha (Churchhill) Kasselman. In 1950, he graduated from Ellinwood High School and later served 4 years in the US Navy where he was aboard the U.S.S Onslow during the Korean War. On May 20, 1956, he married Marilyn Davis at the First Baptist Church in Ellinwood. George was a Great Bend resident for 34 years and previously an Ellinwood resident for 50 years where he was an oil field worker for LD Drilling Company for 40 years. He was a very humble, honest, and hardworking man who was easy to talk to and get along with and will be dearly missed.
Mr. Kasselman was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fellowship of Faith Church in Great Bend, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Kasselman of Great Bend; a son, Mike Kasselman (Patti) of Great Bend; three daughters, Debbie Perry (Bart), of Denison, Texas, Brenda Musgrove (Steve), of Great Bend, and Sandy Reavis (Keith), of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Luke Musgrove (Abbie), Brock Kohls, Jodi Grove (Hendrick), Jeff Reavis (Andrea), Breanna Gibson (Robert), Sarah Reavis, Sydney Perry, Amber Lucchesi (Nick), Kacee Kasselman; and three great-grandchildren, Harper Reavis, Haisley Reavis, and Hayden Klug. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bertha Kasselman; four brothers, Leo, Leonard, Edward and Richard Kasselman; and a sister, Irene Metzger.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church south of Ellinwood with Pastor Arlyn Thielenhaus officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Fellowship of Faith Church, or Woodhaven Care Center in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.minnischapel.org
