OTIS — Gerald "Jerry" A. Bahr, 56, died April 2 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born June 30, 1954, he was the son of Roland J. and Dorothy (Mayer) Bahr. A lifetime resident of the Otis and Olmitz area, he was a foreman in the finishing department at Great Bend Manufacturing for 33 years, later working at Landmark National Bank as the maintenance man. On April 16, 1977 he married Linda Schneider in Olmitz.

Jerry liked being outdoors hunting with his dog Daisy, gardening and yard work. He enjoyed working on projects in his garage and the frequent visitors who stopped by to see what he was working on. He also enjoyed playing turok, pinochle and pitch. He was an avid supporter of Otis-Bison school and athletics taking care of the football field and keeping the clock for both football and basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bahr, of the home; a son, Kyle Bahr of Hays; two daughters, Lisa Starr and husband Travis of Olmitz and Kristan Bahr of Hays; two sisters, Barbara Deckert and husband Dwight of Wichita and Sharon Wissman and husband Robert of Albert; two brothers, David Bahr of Olmitz, and Steve Bahr and wife Peggy of McPherson; a grandson, Marcus Starr; a sister-in-law, Cherie Bahr of Great Bend; in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Cory Bahr; two brothers Ken and Ron Bahr; and a nephew, Tanner Hlavaty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz with Celebrant Father Ultan Murphy. Burial will be at the St. Ann Cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may visit from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and at 6 p.m. at the church in Olmitz with the Wake Service beginning at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Memorials are suggested to the St. Ann Catholic Church or Otis Bison Athletic Fund, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
