Gerald Raymond Zorn

Gerald Raymond Zorn, 88, passed away March 18, 2023, at his home in Great Bend. He was born on July 24, 1934, on the farm near Odin, to Fred and Anna (Kirmer) Zorn. He married Loretta Soellner on April 18, 1959, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Willowdale, Kan. 

A long time Great Bend resident, Gerald was a farmer and worked as a shipping supervisor at Great Bend Manufacturing having retired in 1999 after 35 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #862, VFW Post #3111 and American Legion Post #180. He enjoyed fellowship and dinner with his close friends at the American Legion and polka dancing, as well as having led many Grand Marches at weddings over the years. Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army, having been stationed in Germany. 

Survivors include, his wife, Loretta of the home; a son, Brian Zorn (Linda Judge) of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Jane Potera (Stanley) of Great Bend; a sister, Helen Holiday of Inman; two sisters in law, Emily Zorn and Lea Zorn; and five grandchildren, Christopher Zorn, Amber Zorn, Becky Holt (David), Abbey Zorn and Spencer Zorn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Zorn; seven brothers, Frank Zorn, Leonard Zorn, Bernard Zorn, Elmer Zorn, Alvin Zorn, Edwin Zorn, and Richard Zorn; five sisters, Margaret Steiner, Matilda “Tillie” Schremmer, Eleanor Hickel, Ann Schremmer and Marion Schroeder; and a sister in law, Bernice Zorn.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Vigil service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Aneesh Parappanattu. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to the Heartland Cancer Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
