ELLINWOOD — Gordon Franklin Bieberle was born May 31, 1943, in Great Bend, Kan., to Nick and Rose (Schartz) Bieberle. He passed away on Feb. 11, 2019, in Chicago, Ill.
Gordon graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1961, later graduating from Kansas State University in 1965. He was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant from the Navy. He then moved to Chicago where he worked as the Editor of the 4-H Magazine. He was also a Free-Lance Photographer. He retired from Columbia University in Chicago, Ill.
Survivors include sisters, Bernadine (Don) Overman, Scottsbluff, Neb., and Corrine Batchman, Ellinwood, Kan.; brothers, Jerome (Elvera) Ewald, Wichita, Kan., Marvin (Margie) Bieberle, Great Bend, Kan., Ron (Paula) Bieberle, Ellinwood, Kan., and Floyd (Peggy) Bieberle, Derby, Kan. Additional survivors include sister-in-law, Mary (Norman) Bieberle Apel, Great Bend, Kan., and Shirley Ewald, Canby, Ore., and many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death was a sister, Joyce, and brother-in-law, Dan Leiker, Midland, Texas; brothers, Robert Ewald, Billings, Mont., Norbert Bieberle, Great Bend, Kan.; and brother-in-law, Ron Batchman, Ellinwood, Kan.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, Kan. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul Heritage Association (Ellinwood) or Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly Chicago Chapter in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
