Gordon R. Brantley 1942 - 2011

SCOTT CITY — Gordon R. Brantley, 69, passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City on Dec. 26. Born Feb. 11, 1942, in Almena, he was the son of Herbert K. and Wilma F. Walters Brantley. He was a 1960 graduate of Scott Community High School in Scott City and also graduated from Fort Hays University and from Kansas City Kansas Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science. Gordon was the owner and operator of three funeral homes, in Atwood, Great Bend and Dodge City, during his career. In May of 2011, he moved back to Scott City.

Mr. Brantley was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Brack of Great Bend; a son, Scott Brantley of Great Bend; a brother, Keen Brantley of Scott City; and five grandchildren, TeeJay Janousek, Cayton Janousek, Steele Brack, Austin Brantley and Gracie Brantley, all of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, with Pastor Arlen Ankle officiating. Burial will be at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City. Friends may visit from 2 until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Park Lane Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
