Guy Causey 1955-2013

Guy Causey, 58, died Oct. 4 at home in Great Bend.  Born Feb. 9, 1955, he was the son of Laverne (Squires) Causey.   
A chemistry instructor at Barton Community College, Mr. Causey was a Great Bend resident since 2007, coming from Tennessee.  He had previously taught at the University of Memphis and Harding Academy of Memphis.  Prior to that, he had worked for FedEx Express as an Aircraft Market Specialist and a Crew Resource Specialist and Analyst.
A member of Church of Christ, Great Bend, Guy Causey had a strong faith in his church and his students.  He accompanied youth from his church to Ghana several times on mission trips. He had a profound spiritual relationship with his God and a deep commitment to follow in the Lord’s footsteps of serving mankind. Guy also enjoyed exercising, biking, and hiking.  He was a dedicated and well respected faculty member of Barton Community College.  Guy was able to teach Chemistry in a way that reached all his students.  Guy’s immediate family was his beloved Labradors, Tal and Barney and his cat, Midnight.  He treated them like his children, because they were.  He leaves behind many colleagues and friends that remember humorous and enlightening stories of his life experiences.  Guy had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by many. He was preceded in passing by his mother
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at Church Of Christ in Great Bend with Chuck Marshall officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at Bryant Funeral Home
