Gwen N. Hipp 1947-2012

Gwen N. Hipp, 64, died as a result of an automobile accident north of Great Bend July 11. Born on August 17, 1947 at Hutchinson, she was the daughter of Byron Ray and M. Gladys (Brown) Glaze.  She graduated from Larned High School in 1966, then attended college at Fort Hays State College in Hays for one year.  
She was united in marriage to Ernest L. Hipp on October 10, 1981 at Great Bend.  He died on July 31, 1990. They lived in Great Bend and Pawnee Rock before moving to Hoisington in 2011.  She was involved in 4-H with her children, and enjoyed crafting, collecting frogs, driving, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Gwen was a member of the First Street Church of God in Hoisington, Kansas.
Survivors include three sons, W. Ray Lang and his wife Kelly, of N. Las Vegas, Nev, Brian C. Lang and his wife Brandy of Great Bend, and Joseph W. Hipp and his wife, Melissa of Hoisington; one daughter, Mara K. Mattheyer and her husband Dustin of Ellis; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon W. Glaze and his wife Kathy of Larned, and Errol R. Glaze of Mirando City, Texas; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 16 at the First Street Church of God in Hoisington with Rev. Dick Ogle officiating.  Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Great Bend City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, and then at the church from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. on Monday.  Memorials may be directed to the Gwen Hipp Memorial Fund.  Online condolences may be left and a full obituary notice may be viewed at http://www.charterfunerals.com/obituary/chgb.
