ELLINWOOD — Harold (Doc) Stone, 92, died April 25 at his home in Ellinwood. Doc was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Cedar Vale, to Joseph and Georgia (Thompson) Stone. He married Mary Lois Malone on June 22, 1953, in Ellinwood. He served during World War II as a Captain in the 7th Station Hospital as a dental officer. Doc was a 65-year-resident of Ellinwood, where he ran his own dental practice from 1949 up until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Stone’s memberships in the community include Immanuel United Church of Christ, Mason Lodge, Shrine Lodge, Rotary Club, Grove Park, American Dental Association and Kansas Dental Association.
He is survived by a son, Taylor (Yvonne) Stone; daughter, Carol (Tim); and three grandchildren, Jessalyn, Garrett, and Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lois, brothers Herbert Stone and Richard Stone, and sister Rolloine Horton.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with Pastor Bill Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ellinwood EMS or Ellinwood Fire Dept. in care of Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
