ELLINWOOD — Harold Edward Boepple, 70 died Sept. 19 at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. He was born Oct. 29, 1940 in Great Bend, the son of Ed and Dorothy Roelse Boepple. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, he was an oilfield worker at Weatherford Services, retiring in 1998. He graduated in 1959 from Ellinwood High School. He was also co-owner of G&H Insurance in Great Bend.

Mr. Boepple married Carol Standlee. She died in 1963. He then married Gwyn Moreland on June 19, 1966 at Hoxie.

Survivors include wife Gwyn of the home; sons Eddie of Ellinwood and Clay of Great Bend; daughter Lisa and Bruce Taylor of Great Bend; step daughter Cindy and Don Oswald of Alva, Okla.; and brothers, Jerold of Monahans, Texas, Fred of Weatherford, Okla. and Dennis of Salina; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jannette Kistler.

Celebration service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood. The officiants will be Rev. Dr. Melvin York and Rev. Katrina Palan. Calling time will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials can be made to Turningpoint Ministries or donor’s choice.
