Harbey Fanshier, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 24, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 7, 1924, at Stafford County, the son of Charles and Martha (Fischer) Fanshier.

He married Ida L. Foelgner Jan. 1, 1947 at Hudson. They divorced in 1974. He married Donna Wesley Foelgner June 2, 1975, at Tucumcari, N.M.

Mr. Fanshier was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1989 coming from Stafford County. He was owner and operator of Fanshier Corrosion and later Corrosion D. C.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in France. He was a member of the Christian faith and American Legion Argonne Post 180 and was a former member of Peace Church, Hudson. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a former Barton County 4-H electrical project leader.

Survivors include: His wife, Donna Fanshier, of the home; three daughters: Anita Fanshier of Norman, Okla., Jan Day and husband, David of Houston, Texas, Tracy Fanshier Broce and husband Lonnie of Great Bend; one brother, Wilbert Fanshier of Stafford County; one step-son, Brent Foelgner of Great Bend; and one granddaughter, Emma Day.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at Bryant Funeral Home. The daughters will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
