Hazel "Alberta" Crone - 1925 - 2015

PAWNEE ROCK — Hazel “Alberta” Crone, 89, died Jan. 24, at her home in rural Pawnee Rock. Born July 12, 1925, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of George Albert and Hazel Olive (Colgin) Payne. On June 26, 1942, she married Francis “Roy” Crone in Iola. He died on Nov. 19, 2007. A resident of Barton County most of her life, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Crone was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Cliford Crone and Irvin Crone, both of Great Bend; four daughters, Virginia Jacobs and husband Joe, Hazel Johnson and husband Butch, and Tammy Hammond and husband Eric, all of rural Pawnee Rock, and Darlene Kaupke and husband Charles, of Stillwater, Okla.; one sister, Madge Leatherman of Chanute; four brothers, Homer Payne of Iola, Robert Payne of Laharpe, Floyd Payne of Pittsburg, and Harold Don Payne of Colony; 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, George Crone; two brothers, George Jr. Payne and Carl Payne; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Great Bend with Pastor Terry Ruebush officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home.
