Helen Virginia (Pitman) McCormick 1931 - 2015

SYLVIA — - Helen Virginia (Pitman) McCormick died on Oct. 18, 2015. Born on Jan. 29, 1931, in Inglewood, Calif. she was the daughter of Earl and Thelma Pitman. In 1949, she graduated from Sweetwater High School. On Nov. 14, 1954, she married Walter James McCormick. They resided in Chula Vista Calif. until 1960 when they moved to Kansas. Helen retired from Cessna after 30 years. After she retired she went to work for Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson.
Mrs. McCormick attended the Nazarene Church in Stafford for years and then became a member of the United Methodist Church in Sylvia.
Survivors include her husband, Walter McCormick of Sylvia; three daughters, Sharon Schartz (Brian) of Ellinwood, Karen Roush (Rodney) of Stafford, Terrie Snyder (David)of Cottonwood Ariz.;  two sons, James McCormick (Debbie) of Ellinwood and Dale McCormick of Stafford; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Vincent, Irene Hall, Janie McCarty; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Thelma Pitman; brother, Mack Pitman; and daughter-in-law, Mari McCormick.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to the Sylvia United Methodist Church in care of the chapel.
