BURDETT — Henry O. Winter, 96, passed away June 7, 2024 at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse.
He was born Dec. 30, 1927 in rural Barton County, Kan., the son of Ora L. and Dorothy Southard Winter. A lifetime area resident he was a farmer and cattleman.
On May 21, 1949 he married Velma Jean Brown at Burdett, Kan.; she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2020.
Survivors include daughter, Lana Strom, Ankeny, Iowa; two sons, Roland O. (Marlene) Winter, Burdett, Leon Keith Winter, Burdett; two sisters, Betty Wasson, Dodge City, Iva Helms, Derby; three grandchildren, Rolland Winter, Hays, Jolene (Matt) Roth, Hays, Julianna (Brian) Montgomery, Dodge City; five great grandchildren, Alex (Skyler) Winter Markham, Jake (Micca) Montgomery, Joey Montgomery, Cameron Roth, Haley Roth; one great-great grandchild, Evie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two step sisters, Thelma Atkins and Mary Hill; son-in-law David Strom.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor David Spare presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary with family present 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
