WOODLAWN, TENN. — MSG (Ret.) Herman E. Cassity, 82, Woodlawn, Tenn., died Sept. 25 at his home. Born Dec. 10, 1927, in Bush City, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Esther Burlington Cassity. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army, where he belonged to the 101st Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service he retired once again from Civil Service Family Housing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Conatser Cassity.

Mr. Cassity was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, selling fireworks and cooking.

Survivors include his son Mike Cassity of Huntington, W.V.; a daughter Donna Cassity Butts of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Brandi Bradberry, Hunter Cassity, Brooke Cassity, Skyler Cassity, and Brayden Cassity; a great-grandson, Tucker Bradberry; a brother, Robert Cassity; and three sisters, Vera Storer, Helen Miller, and Marjorie (Tootie) Akers. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanne Lankard and Nina Ruth Cassity.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave-Larson Chapel in Clarksville, Tenn., with Brother Charles (Chuck) Cato officiating. Burial will be in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tenn. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
