HUDSON – Hilda L. Siefkes, 100, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born May 31, 1914, on the family farm, rural Hudson, she was the daughter of Carl and Lena Drach. Hilda was a lifetime resident of the Hudson Community. She was a 1932 graduate of Hudson High School. She was a homemaker, careful custodian of her home, yard and flower garden, dear mother and loving grandmother and great grandmother.
Hilda was an active member of the Trinity Community Church, to which she generously supported. She was a member of the Church Guild and sang in the church choir. Along with her sister, Erna Witt, they sang at many church events and funerals over the years. She also was a member of the Hudson Homemakers Unit.
On December 29, 1935, she married William E. Siefkes. He died February 20, 1991. She is survived by two sons: Darwin Siefkes and wife Fran of Great Bend, and Dennis Siefkes and wife Linda of Hudson; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren: Lori and Mark Hammeke, Sarah and Erin of Ellinwood, Rachelle and William Bahr, Ella, Ava and Lily of Manhattan, Mark and Kelli Siefkes, Aiden and Evan of Overland Park, Kelly and Dan Feist, Kyler and Kara of Great Bend, Jon and Andrea Siefkes, August and Madelynne of Hudson; Angie and Mike Laurie, Hazel and Graham of Atlanta, Ga.; and Melissa and Greg Alquist, Emmett, Amos and Samson of Basehor.
Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, William Siefkes, her parents, three brothers, William, Arthur and Leonard Drach; and sister, Erna Witt.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, December 6, at Trinity Community Church, Hudson with Pastor George Redington presiding. Visitation will be Friday 4-8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at the Trinity Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Trinity Community Church in care of the chapel.
