GREAT BEND - Howard G. Schroeder, 95, passed away October 25, 2020, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. He was born August 17, 1925, at Dundee, to Henry & Catherne Schroeder. He married Harriet Ann Rice and they later divorced.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Howard was a blaster and painter for Cooper Coating in Ellinwood. He was a life member of the VFW Post #5657 in Ellinwood. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and bowling.
Survivors include, three sons, Gary Schroeder, and Larry Schroeder and wife Jennifer, all of Great Bend, and Richard Schroeder of Hoisington; a daughter, Rebecca Adams of Venus, Texas; a brother, Bythel Schroeder; a sister, Alice Miller; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and ten siblings.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Interment will be in Dundee Valley Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the United States Navy. Memorials are suggested to VFW Post #3111, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
