Hugh E. Snyder 1937-2011

LARNED — Hugh E. Snyder, 74, died November 3, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born July 4, 1937, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Hugh G. and Rose M. Ristinen Snyder.
A resident of Larned since 1978, formerly of Beloit, where he owned Snyders Gambles Store for 14 years. He was an Insurance Agent for Farmers Union Insurance of Larned for 33 years. 
He touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus both of Larned, member of National Underwriters Association. He served in the U.S. Army  National Guard at Hays.
On February 6, 1959, he married Mary Jean Mitchell at Stockton. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David Snyder and Michael and wife Julie, all of Larned; a daughter, Sandra Lemuz, Wichita, two brothers, Richard Snyder, Pompano Beach, Fla.; and Lloyd Snyder, Conroe, Texas, nine grandchildren, Tabatha Snyder, Layton Lemuz, Summer Snyder, Landon Lemuz, Nick Snyder, Chance Snyder, Lexus Lemuz, Camry Snyder and Jace Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Rose Ruder, Rosalie Hahn and Bernice Rice. 
A funeral mass is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
