Ida “Irene” Peak, 86, died Feb. 13, 2016, at Hays Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Neosho County, she was the daughter of Orace W. and Ruth A. (Mathes) Peercy. On Sept. 1, 1947, she married Glenn D. Peak Jr., in Parsons. He died on May 23, 1997. A resident of Great Bend since 1966, coming from Chanute, she was a senior inspector for Fuller Brush, retiring in 1983 to become the primary caregiver to her husband, Glenn. Irene was also instrumental in raising funds to bring the first dialysis center to Great Bend.
Mrs. Peak was a member of the First United Methodist Church and AARP.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Peak and wife Cathy of Winter Haven, Fla.; three daughters, Nancy Sargent and her husband Mike of Newton, Glennda Drescher and her husband Joe of Great Bend, and Donna K. Keil and her husband Kevin of Topeka; one brother, Earl Baze of Kinsley; eight grandchildren, Mark Sargent, Andrea Keil Thompson, Greg Sargent, Ashley Drescher Grooms, Jeremy Peak, Lindsey Drescher, David Peak, and Spencer Keil; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant brother, Rudolph Peercy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Wutka officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time on Wednesday, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Ronald McDonald House, in care of the funeral home.
