ELLSWORTH — Irene Ann Pacey, 80, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 in Ellsworth. She was born May 19, 1939 in Kansas City, KS to Anthony and Olga (Brozek) Blazina.

Irene was a longtime resident of the Ellsworth area where she was a Registered Nurse at the Ellsworth Hospital. She was a member and former president of the VFW Post 6485 Auxiliary and was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She married Larry L. Pacey on March 12, 1960 in Ellsworth.

Irene is survived by her husband Larry of Ellsworth; granddaughters, Jessica Neeland (Robert) of Radium and Nichole Mullenix (Russell) of Gulf Port, MS; and great grandchildren, Carston and Kaylea Neeland and Titus Mullenix and soon to arrive Baby Mullenix. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Cassie, Sally, and Oreo. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Edward; and sister, Elizabeth Ray.

Irene and her parents came to Kanopolis during WWII. She attended her primary school years in Kanopolis. And later attended college at Barton County Community College. When her father returned from the war, he built and operated ‘The Kanopolis Drive-In’. Irene could be found selling tickets at the entry booth, managing the concession stand and making sure the evening went smoothly over the grounds of the Drive-In. She wasn’t afraid to work hard and strongly encouraged those around her to do the same. She even operated a motor-grader for her husband and son to help them with their dirt construction businesses.

Irene enjoyed time with her family whether it was for a birthday celebration, holiday or just an outing for lunch and a movie. She also enjoyed fishing, sewing, cooking, baking and adventures.
