ELLINWOOD — Irene B. (Boger) Kimpler, 96, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood Sept. 10, 2018.
She was born north of Hoisington on the family farm to parents Jacob and Salamena (Radke) Boger March 2, 1922.
Irene graduated from Hoisington High School and attended Salt City Business School in Hutchinson. She married George Norman Kimpler April 7, 1947 in Ellinwood. He passed away July 7, 1996.
Many will remember Irene working concessions at Kimbo. Irene loved to cook and play bridge and stayed very close throughout the years to good friends. She was known as Grandma Irene to many and loved giving to the children of the community, but especially held her family close to her heart.
Survivors include daughter, Lana Kimpler, Ellinwood; sister, Clara Cook, Colorado Springs, Colo.; granddaughter, Bridgett Keenan Schneweis, Hoisington; and great-grandchildren, Kameron and Khloe Schneweis, Hoisington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Norman Kimpler; and six brothers and sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 13 from 1-7 p.m. with parish rosary at 3 p.m. and Vigil at 7 p.m. Family will receive friends before and after the Vigil from 6-8 p.m., all at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
