ODIN — Irene M. Beran, 88, died Feb. 13 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born April 11, 1923, in Victoria, she was the daughter of Wendelin and Pauline (Dreiling) Dinkel. On June 16, 1948, she married August V. Beran in Victoria. He died May 4, 1966. A resident of Odin since 1948, coming from Victoria, and moving to Great Bend in 2005, she was a homemaker and served in domestic services.
Mrs. Beran was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Altar Society and EHU, all in Odin.
Survivors include a son, Ken Beran and wife Barbara of Hays; two daughters, Karen Reif and husband Gary, and Donita Wolf and husband Greg, all of Great Bend; a brother, Alvin F. Dinkel of Victoria; seven grandchildren: Laura Weber, Lisa Hays, Tammy Lichter, Amy Brune, Kristi Ingalls, Ryan Wolf and Ian Wolf; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wilmer Dinkel; and one grandson, David Reif.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Family Cemetery in Odin. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by altar society rosary, all at the funeral home.
