Jack J. “Grumpy” Jenkins, 73, passed away Feb. 10, 2021, at Integris Hospice House, Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born April 26, 1947, at Great Bend, to William and Esther (Queen) Jenkins. He married Iris Rich June 16, 1972, at Great Bend and they later divorced. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Jack worked for the City of Great Bend in the Parks Department as the cemetery sexton. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Jack loved drag racing and was President of the Great Bend Raceway for 11 years. Survivors include, his daughter, Heather Reed and husband Steven of El Reno, Okla.; a brother, John Jenkins of Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Wesley Reed and wife Laura, Shelbi Miller and husband Matt, Kadin Reed, Brooklyn Reed and Brayden Reed; and two great grandchildren, Lexi Reed and Jaxon Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Troy Miller presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials are designated to Fort Dodge Soldier Home, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
