LARNED — Jackie L. Skelton, 88, passed away April 11, 2024 at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born Dec. 11, 1935 in Larned, the son of Nelse N. and Mary Ruth Hazel Combs Skelton.
A lifetime area resident, he worked for the City of Larned for 37 years. He was a member of First Chrisian Church, Larned, National Guard, and enjoyed going to coffee, spending time with his dogs, hunting, fishing, and cruising around town. He also liked scratch off tickets and going to the casino.
On April 8, 1963 he married Connie Lou Hatfield at Alva, Okla.; she survives. Jack and Connie just celebrated 61 years together.
Other survivors include three sons, Rick Skelton, Danny Skelton, and Randy Skelton, all of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Tina (Steve) Kirk, Parker, Colo., Jacquie (Brad) Walters, Rifle, Colo., Lisa (Steve) Spain, Larned; numerous grandchildren, including: Chelsy (Charles) Skelton, Brandi (Jordan) Sharp, Jordanne Oleson, Kiley (Alexis) Larsen, Kandra (Brandon) Becerra, Derek Walters, Shaina (Daniel) Nunn, Allisa (Ty) Spain, Natalie (Caleb) Spain; numerous great grandchildren, including, Owen, Cody, Everett, Kameron, Payson, Preslee, Jaxton, Bristole, Cash, and Baylor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jackie L. Skelton Jr.; six siblings, Mary Brothers, George Skelton, Neal Skelton, Ruth Deckert, Hazel “Tootie” Callahan, Charles Harlan “Ske” Skelton.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Bob Sallee presiding. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned with family present from 3-5 p.m. Burial in Larned Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pawnee County Humane Society or First Christian Church in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477, Larned, Kansas 67550.
