Jacob Vernon (Jake) Perez, 28, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on October 2, 2018.

Jake was born February 7, 1990, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Rebecca Louise Perez and Christopher Harold Caro. Jake grew up in Larned Kansas and attended Larned High School.

Jake was an avid athlete participating in football, basketball, and track. Jake always excelled in all sports, always pushing himself to be the best he could be.

He would spend hours in the driveway perfecting different basketball shots and skateboard tricks.

After high school, Jake tried a semester at Garden City Community College, but he felt school just was not for him. Jake loved his family and his friends. No matter where he went he was always with one of his buddies or over at his two sisters’ houses. He spent many hours at Grandma’s house always looking for a bowl of cereal or a pizza. Jake had a soft spot in his heart for dogs of any kind. Grandma and Mom always ended up with dogs that Jake found and would bring home. Jake was always a free spirit working as he needed, never needing a lot of things. He mostly wanted to be with family and friends and his dogs. Jake was a very kind and sensitive man who would help anyone and was always ready to right a wrong to one of his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Grandfather, John Perez; paternal grandmother Sheryl Caro and nephew Kaysen Hosheit. Jake is survived by his mother, Rebecca Perez, of Denver, Colorado; father, Christopher Caro of Larned, Kansas; sister Erica Gonzalez (Samuel) of Larned, Kansas; sister, Tori Perez-Hosheit (Gage) of Larned, Kansas; brother, LJ of Denver Colorado; grandmother, Mary Perez, Larned; paternal grandfather, Lloyd Caro; nephews Anthony and Avery; niece Sofia, and his dog Cookie.
