James Armond “Jim” Dallen 1946 - 2020


HOISINGTON — James Armond “Jim” Dallen, 73, loving husband, father and grandpa, died March 31, 2020, at his home in Hoisington. He was born April 21, 1946, in rural Clifton, Kan., the son of Louis Ancy Dallen and Stella Marie (Girard) Dallen. He was raised in the Catholic faith. Jim graduated from Clifton High School in 1964, he then served in the Army as a Sergeant from 1967 to 1969 receiving the purple heart.

On Aug. 31, 1968, he married Marsha E. Hays at the Schilling Air Force Base Chapel in Salina.

Jim retired from Dillons after 39 years, working as a meat cutter and being promoted to market manager in 1980. Jim enjoyed sports and was once active in several bowling leagues. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Marsha E. Dallen of the home; daughter, Jennifer Ann Wilson-Compton and husband Jeffrey of Hoisington; son, Richard James Dallen and wife Violeta of Copperas Cove, Texas; siblings, Loretta Cyre of Clay Center, Eli Dallen of Perry, Okla., Emma Rose Dunphy of Manhattan, and Shirley Richechy of Belleville; nine grandchildren, Justin Dallen, Austin Dallen, Krista Dallen, Brittny Dallen, Taylor Dallen and wife Madison, Brittany Turner and husband Duke, Clarke Wilson Jr., Tristin Compton, Jaala Compton; and seven great grandchildren, Vada Kaiser, Jhadyn Turner, Parker and Briley Turner, Landyn, Maverick, and Bennett Dallen.

Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will be Monday at the Poheta Cemetery, Saline County, Kan., with Pastor Denny Lewis presiding.
