He was reared on the family farm and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed in Guam. On June 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to M. Elaine Bauer in Larned. He farmed southwest of Great Bend nearly all of his life, until very recently when ill health prevented him from working.

Survivors include his wife, M. Elaine Weathers of Great Bend; two sons, Brenton J. “Jay” Weathers and James M. “Jimmy” Weathers, both of Great Bend; one daughter, Karen M. and husband, John Cedeno, of Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Joey Meyers, Heather and Crystal Weathers, James Wyman, and Killian Cedeno. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Wyman; and one brother, Marion Weathers.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend, with Pastor Julie Shields and the Rev. Dr. Scott V. Solether officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, and from 9-9:50 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
