HOISINGTON — James William Gray, 74, passed away June 23, 2020 at University of Kansas Health Systems Hays Campus.
He was born July 22, 1945 in Russell to James W. and Jane Workman Gray.
A Hoisington resident for 18 years, and formerly of Great Bend, he was a truck driver for Beaver Grain. He was of the Christian faith, a member of the VFW Post 6240, Russell, the American Legion Post 286, Hoisington, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Great Bend. He served in the United States Navy and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include sister, Kala Miller Kurtz, and husband Roger, Larned; two nephews, Brandon (Shelby) Kurtz, Larned, Jason (Sierra Schmitt) Kurtz, Garfield; cousin, Sidonya Jane Bolton, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his father, James Gray; mother, Jane Miller; step-father, James C. Miller; and a son, Douglas Johnson Gray.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Russell Cemetery, Russell with Pastor Mike Joiner presiding and military graveside rites. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
