TIMKEN — Jeanette Mildred Tammen, 81, died March 25 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1932, at McPherson, the daughter of Walter Jerome “Pop” and Muriel Lee “Mom” (Ittel) Sisson. She married Robert Torrey Tammen Oct. 25, 1952, at Great Bend.  He died Aug. 1, 1978. She was a homemaker and farmer.
Mrs. Tammen was a Timken resident since 1952, coming from Great Bend.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Church Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible Study, Peace Lutheran Church Women, and was the first woman to serve on the Co-op Board.
Survivors include three sons, R. J. Tammen and his wife Vickie of Timken, Ronnie Tammen of Rush Center, and Reggie Tammen and his wife Paula of Timken; two daughters: Jennylea Shelton and her husband Ken, and Johanna Myrick and her husband Mike, all of Larned; one daughter-in-law, Susan Tammen of Great Bend; one sister, Shirley Burhenn of El Dorado; 10 grandchildren, Heather Shelton, Jeremy Myrick, Kathleen Myrick, Jenessa Tammen, Janel Tammen, Rostin Tammen, Katie Tammen, Jessica Shelton, Megan Tammen and Lynzi Myrick; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Tammen; four brothers, Walter “Bud” Sisson, William “Bill” Sisson, infant John Sisson, and Larry Sisson; and three sisters, Lois “Walley” Seago, Janell Bowman, and JoHannah Sisson.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, south of Albert, with Pastor Patricia Reep officiating. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Albert.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church or the Food Bank, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
