YUKON, Okla. — Jerry Michael “Mike” Cartlidge, 66, of Yukon, Okla., and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, entered into heaven on July 10, 2016, after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born July 27, 1949, in Great Bend to James and Lucy (Keal) Cartlidge. After graduating from Great Bend High School in 1967, he enlisted in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1975. On June 30, 1973, he married Karen S. Hoffhaus in Great Bend. He spent most of his career working in the oilfield and was also the owner of JMC Towing Service. He loved dancing, hunting, playing cards, trips to Las Vegas, and spending time with family.
Survivors include, Karen of the home; two sons, John Cartlidge and wife Kayla, of Winfield, and Dr. Matthew Cartlidge and wife Stacia, of Woodbridge, Va.; daughter Jennifer Schnack and husband Andy, of Lenexa; brother Don Cartlidge and wife Tambra of Hudson; sister Patricia Freese of Columbia, S.C.; and granddaughters, Aubrey and Alivia Cartlidge, of Winfield, and Harper Schnack of Lenexa. He is preceded in death by his parents; and twin grandchildren.
Following his wishes, cremation and a private family burial at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens in Shawnee Mission will be carried out. Online condolences may be made at www.yandafuneral.com.
A memorial has been established in Mike’s name for his grandchildren’s education funds. Contributions may be made to the Mike Cartlidge Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
