GENESEO — Jerry Paden, 57, died May 24 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City. Born March 8, 1955, in Austria, he was the son of Jack and Roberta (Croll) Paden. On Aug. 31, 1996, he married Treva (Burress) Schepmann in Ellsworth. He was the founder of Paden’s Place in Ellsworth and a track inspector for Union Pacific Railroad before his retirement.
Mr. Paden was a member of the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Dept.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Justin and Michael, both of Houston, Texas; three stepsons, Jake Schepmann of Holyrood and Jerry and Nick Schepmann, both of Geneseo; two stepdaughters, Heather Nicolet (Darren), of Great Bend and Kristin Wondra (Michael), of Bucklin; his father Jack of Lodi, Calif.; two brothers, Russell Croll Paden of Austin, Texas, and John Paden of Dickinson, Texas; and two granddaughters, Hayden and Alexis Wondra. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Elizabeth Guyette.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. Visitation will from 1-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Ellsworth County Cancer Fund in care of the funeral home.
