Jessica “Jess” (Mink) Nelson, 42, passed away May 19, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. She was born December 30, 1978 at Fort Scott, Kan., to Ronald and Bonnie (Miller) Mink. She married Andrew T. Nelson December 28, 2002, at Great Bend. 

A life time Great Bend resident, Jessica was employed by Barton County Special Services through USD 428. She was a member of First Christian Church in Great Bend, KNEA, and NEA. Jess was a talented musician with an outgoing spirit, never meeting a stranger. She always gave her full heart felt devotion to her family, especially her children, students and friends.    

Survivors include, her husband, Andy Nelson of the home; two daughters, Emilee and Tori Nelson of the home; her father, Ron Mink of Salina; a brother, Grant Mink and wife Aubrey of Topeka; her father in law, Delbert Nelson of Great Bend; a brother in law, Dale Nelson and wife Janice of Longmont, Colo.; and nieces and nephews, Scarlet and Ivy Mink, and Joshua and Nicholas Nelson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Mink; and her mother in law, Andrea Nelson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at First Christian Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Josh Leu presiding. Memorials have been designated to the Jessica Nelson Memorial Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
