Jimmie Dale Maris 1943 - 2015

Jimmie Dale Maris, 72, passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1, 2015, in Great Bend after a lengthy illness. Born May 31, 1943, at Hoxie, he was the son of Clarence and Bernice (Bricker) Maris. He grew up in Rexford and later moved to Atwood, where he co-owned and operated Maris Barber Shop with his twin brother for about ten years. In 1990, he moved to Great Bend. On Oct. 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Vicki Elliott at Ulysses. They later divorced. He loved hunting and woodworking (particularly furniture-making), animals, and taking care of his family.
Jimmie was a former member of Atwood Lodge #164 AF & AM Masonic Lodge at Atwood.             
Survivors include one son, Brett Maris and his wife, Gwen of Trenton, Neb.; one daughter, Traci Maris of Great Bend; three grandchildren, Cody Maris, Heaven Williams, and Lexi Maris; three great-grandchildren, Lycan Williams, Nova Martenson, and Baby Robinson; his former wife, Vicki Smith of Great Bend; and three brothers, his twin, Jackie Dean Maris and his wife, Shirlee, of Atwood, Robert Maris of El Dorado Springs, Mo. and Clyde Maris of Sheridan, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen. There will be no viewing or services at this time. The family has requested that memorials be designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society at Great Bend.
