FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — Joan M. Smith, 87, died Feb. 3, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was a long time former Postmistress at Pawnee Rock.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Spreier; three sons, Larry (Cora), Rob (Lynn) and Jared (Diane); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Paul and Mildred Spreier; her husband, Virgil L. Smith; a brother, Jack Loving; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Smith.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Smith requested that her body be donated to science.
