BEAVER — John A. Schremmer, 97, died June 19, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo.
He was born Dec. 31, 1913 in Beaver, the son of Alois and Caroline (Frenzl) Schremmer. On Oct. 19, 1936, he married Marie T. Hlavaty in Olmitz. She died on Aug. 24, 2002. A long-time resident of Beaver and Gorham, he was a retired farmer.
Mr. Schremmer was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gorham; and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beaver.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylyn Schremmer and wife Laura, Wichita; and Stan Schremmer and wife Nancy, Gorham; two daughters, Connie Kay Pickert, Kansas City, Mo.; and Mary Jeanette Smith and husband Walt, Richmond, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ollie Schremmer, Albert Schremmer and Oswald Schremmer; two sisters, Loretta Maxiner and Sister Miriam Schremmer; and a grandson, John Michael Pickert.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Bob Schremmer and Father Francis Oroffa officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Beaver. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a vigil service at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
