John Calvin Rapp 1924-2016

ELLINWOOD — John Calvin Rapp, 92, passed away in Hemet, Calif. on Aug. 18, 2016.
He was born in Kinsley Feb. 3, 1924, the son of Harry & Lena (Hildenbrand) Rapp.
He graduated from Kinsley High School in 1942. He married Rosanna Edler also in Kinsley. John was an Ellinwood resident for 47 years, formerly of Kinsley. He worked at Hedrick Lumber and later the city of Ellinwood for more than 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion, and VFW. He also served in the Marine Corp from 1941-1945 during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Rosanna Rapp, Hemet, Calif.; sons, Steven (Sheryl) Rapp, Hemet, Calif.; Ronald Rapp, Ellinwood; daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Weber, Richmond, Mo.; Donna (Steve) Howell, Sun Lakes, Ariz.; Lois (Neil) Bishop, Hollywood, Md.; as well as seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Adam Stubbs.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Ellinwood at a later date. Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Church, Ellinwood, in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS, 67526.
