John Edward Elliott, 77, passed away September 3, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Medicalodges Great Bend, Kan. He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Logansport, Ind., to Richard and Dorothy (Bobeck) Elliott. On March 25, 1972, he married Carol Tegarden in Great Bend.

A resident of Great Bend for 74 years, John worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Great Bend Industries for 46 years prior to his retirement. He was a former member of the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees). John was a diehard fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, classic rock and roll, NASCAR and drag racing. He was a diligent man, who took great pride in his lawn and vehicle maintenance. Above all, John loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Carol, of the home; sons, Chad Elliott and wife Crystal of Great Bend, and Jason Elliott and wife Marci of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Kristi Stegman and husband Kevin of Great Bend; ten grandchildren, Drew Dewitt and Ethan Stegman, both of Great Bend, Blake Stegman of Ellinwood, Jaydan Davis and Breckyn Elliott, both of Wichita, Raelyn and Evynn Elliott, both of Great Bend, Brendan Elliott of Fort Worth, Texas, Avery Elliott of College Station, Texas, and Christopher Elliott of Fort Worth, Texas; and sister, Jan Rieland and husband Joe of South Hutchinson. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James “Jim” Elliott and Robert “Bob” Elliott.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
