HOISINGTON — John William Martin, 39, passed away February 1, 2020, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.  He was born May 12, 1980 in Great Bend, to William A. “Sonny” and Carolina (Ledesma) Martin.

John had been a Hoisington resident since 2015, moving from Midland, Texas.  He worked in retail fabrication sales, and was a passionate mechanic, especially enjoying many hours on motorcycles and his classic Chevy Impala.  John was a baptized member of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his parents, Sonny and Carolina Martin of Hoisington; two sisters, Susan Clark and husband Bryan of Hutchinson, and Stephanie Kelsey of Ellis; nieces and nephew, Natalie Kelsey, Haylee Kelsey and Brendan Clark; grandmother, Alberta Ledesma of Hoisington; many aunts and uncles, including, John and Juanita Heinrich of Great Bend and Dallas Martin of Midland; and many cousins, including, Patty Diaz of Great Bend, Penny Swafford of Rolla, Mo., and Mitch Martin of Midland.  John was preceded in passing by grandparents, Dorotha Surface, Doyle F. Martin and Herman Ledesma; one sister, Adrianne Carolina Martin; and many uncles and aunts, including, Arthur Tisdall and Doyle A. Martin.

There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.  Private graveside services will be held at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington.  Memorials may be directed to the John W. Martin Expense Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
