HOISINGTON — Joyce M. Basye, 81, died Aug. 10 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1933 at Wichita, the daughter of Lee and Alberta (Miller) Mathews.
In 1954, she married Richard M. Basye and has resided in Hoisington for the last 62 years. Joyce worked at Hoisington Lutheran Hospital for over 20 years and then Fuller Brush for 25 years. Upon retiring, she worked for Clara Barton Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joyce was a loving and caring person to many and in return was deeply loved.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Richard M. Basye, Hoisington; a sister, Virginia Condit, Bay City, Texas; three sons, Steve and his wife Vickie, Hoisington; Bruce, Hays; and Doug and his wife Linda, Great Bend; eight grandchildren, Sheven and John Copp, Stacie and Shelby Stone, Katey Basye, Addie Basye and Tane Brown, Amanda Basye, Jordan and Brynne Basye, Olivia Basye, Brett Basye and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob Basye, Jayme Bradley, Jaicie Bradley, Gentry Stone, Dylan Stone, Liam Stone, Daphne Copp, Brayden Copp, and Elliott Copp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Lee Mathews, and a brother, James Mathews.
Funeral Service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with Pastor Sandy Kennedy officiating. Interment will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
