LARNED — Joyce L. Greathouse, 85, passed away June 7, 2017, at Diversicare of Larned. She was born March 27, 1932, in Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Roy Lee and Mary Velma Curtsinger Swartz. A resident of Larned since 1953, she was a retired L.M.H.T. from Larned State Hospital. On April 4, 1952, she married Charles (Chuck) E. Greathouse in Raton, N.M.. He passed away May 27, 1992.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Alter Society and V.F.W. Auxiliary Club, all of Larned.
Survivors include, two sons, Roy Greathouse, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Jeffery Greathouse, Bloomington, Ind.; daughter, Dayna Schmidt, Hays; foster daughter, Ann Wilcox, Larned; brother, Harold Swartz, Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Sandra Fankhouser, Fort Worth, Texas, and Nancy Oder, Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Greathouse; foster daughter, Barbara Erway; foster son, Kerry Greathouse; two brothers, Roy L. and Bruce Warren Swartz; and a sister, June Marcott.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with family present from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned. Memorials may be sent to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
