ELLINWOOD — Judith Ann “Judy” Daffern, 80, of Ellinwood, passed away April 12, 2018 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood, Kan. She was born April 13, 1937 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of LeRoy Daniel and Gladys Agnes Smith Doyle. She graduated from Kearney High School in San Diego, Calif. Judy has resided in Ellinwood since 1987, formerly of San Diego, Calif. She was a teacher’s aid at the Ellinwood Grade School and St. Joseph Catholic School.
Judy was of the Catholic faith.
Judy was united in marriage with George Boulette. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1987. On Feb. 16, 1980, Judy was united in marriage with Vernie “Joe” Daffern in Trinidad, Colo. He survives of the home.
She is also survived by her son, Carl and Cheryl Boulette of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Kathy and Aaron Birzer of Ellinwood, Kan.; brothers, Dan and Sharla Doyle of Corona, Calif. and Tom and Ann Pederson of Washington, N.C..; grandchildren, Adam Birzer, Megan Birzer, Jennifer Boulette Brenzel and Samantha Garcia; step-grandson, Cody Lambert; step-granddaughter, Jodie Hess; and seven great-grandchildren, Olive Birzer, Trinity Garcia, Serenity Garcia, Joshua Calderon, Luke Brenzel, Jade Calderon and Noah Hess. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Boulette; and son, George Allen Boulette.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, Ellinwood in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
