Juliana Dreher Unrein 1933 -2017

HAYS — Juliana Dreher Unrein, 83, joined the Lord Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colo. She was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Rush County the daughter of Philip and Wilhelmina (Schuckman) Dreher. On Sept. 10, 1951, she married LaVerne J. “Vernie” Unrein. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2012. She was a homemaker and motel owner.
Mrs. Unrein was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Altar Society.
Survivors include four daughters, Verna Moorhous of Kansas City, Vera Schreurs and husband Steve, of Peculiar, Mo., Vicky Unrein of Miami, Okla., and Venita Hernandez of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Darrell Unrein and wife Norene, of Hays and Richard Unrein and wife Gerry, of Pueblo, Colo.; three granddaughters, Lisa Linenberger of Tuscon, Ariz., Diana Unrein of Coffeyville, and Lacey Unrein, and fiancé Colby Schippers, of Hays; five grandsons, David Linenberger of Gardner, Terry Jones II of Raytown, Mo., Dylan Unrein of Columbus, Ohio, Tanner Unrein of Hays, and Matthew Bruner of Great Bend; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Lane Linenberger; and one sister, Betty Hill and husband James, Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her father, Philip on Jan. 18, 1975, and mother, Wilhelmina on Dec. 11, 1998; a sister, LaVerna Herl on Dec. 8, 2014; two brothers, Leon Dreher on Aug. 8, 2012, and Ralph Dreher on Sept. 14, 1997.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, with Father Fred Gatschet officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Liebenthal. Visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. today at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Juliana’s memory can be made to Alzheimer’s Research at ALZ.org or left in care of the funeral home.
