CHICO, Texas — June Bowyer-Sowell, 81, died on Oct. 15, 2016, in Decatur, Texas. Born Oct. 16, 1934, in Great Bend she was the daughter of Daniel and Helen (Otte) Eckert. She was a retired sales clerk for Chico Dry Goods and Wise Furniture Sales. On Jan. 25, 1953, she married Eugene Bowyer. They were married 55 years until his passing in 2008. On Feb. 14, 2012, she married Sidney Sowell in Chico, Texas.
Mrs. Bowyer-Sowell was a long time member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Sidney Sowell of Chico, Texas; her sons, Bill Bowyer and wife Laina of Decatur, Texas, Doug Bowyer and wife Belinda of Chico, Texas, Steve Bowyer of Houston, Texas, Danny Sowell and wife Judy of Keller, Texas, and Terry Sowell and wife Debbie of Hurst, Texas; a sister, Charlene Engleman and husband Rod of Great Bend; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Bowyer; daughter, Sandra Jones; infant twin sons; brother, Gene Eckert; and sister, Darlene Dueser.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico, Texas with the Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Chico Cemetery.
