Karen Ann (Deines) Keil

EDMOND, Okla. — Karen Ann (Deines) Keil, 81, passed on Jan. 30, 2023, at her home in Edmond, Okla. She was born April 18, 1941, in Olmitz, Kan., the daughter of Lawrence Lester Deines and Evelyn Winifred (Brack) Deines. She graduated from Otis High School, Otis, Kansas in 1958. On Nov. 23, 1958, she married Gerald Dean Keil at St. Paul Lutheran Church Galatia, Kan. They had three children. 

Karen began her career in Kansas at a radio station. She then went to work at the law office of Brock McPherson, in Great Bend, Kan. When the family moved to Oklahoma, Karen took a job at Howell-Stone Insurance, Edmond where she worked for 47 years as an Insurance Claims Adjuster, before retiring in 2019.

Karen was a devout Christian and is now rejoicing with the Lord! She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Edmond, Okla., where she attended regularly, including her Bible study group.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mishelle Handy and husband, Rusty, of Edmond, Okla., and Keli Bennett and husband, Dan, Broken Arrow, Okla.; one son, Jeffrey Keil, of Edmond; grandchildren, Taylor Handy of Oklahoma City, Tanner Handy of Edmond, Hunter Bennett of Tulsa, and Sydney Bennett of Broken Arrow, and Austin Flowers of Edmond; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Flowers. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dean Keil; parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Deines; mother-in-law, Elsie (Keil) Herber; brother, Jerry Deines; and brothers-in-law, Robert Myers and Greg Schulte.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday Feb. 21, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, at 402 Main Street, Galatia, Kansas, 67565.
