Katherine Ann Vesta, 86, died July 11, 2016, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Vincent and Alexandria (Gonzalez) Gutierrez. In 1947, she married Harold Vincent Tomlin in Great Bend. They divorced after 25 years of marriage. She was then married to Durl Workman for 25 years. On July 26, 1994, she married Richard L. Vesta in Manhattan. He died on Aug. 10, 1994. She grew up in Great Bend and after residing in Manhattan and Concordia for 25 years she returned to Great Bend in 2007. She was a hostess for Pancho’s Restaurant.
Survivors include six sons, Douglas Tomlin of Louisburg, Paul Tomlin of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mark Tomlin and his wife Shirley of Great Bend, Bruce Tomlin and his wife Carol of Maize, Howard Tomlin and his wife Lisa of Mesa, Ariz., and Adrian Tomlin and his wife Carla of Great Bend; one daughter, Lissa Tomlin of Maize; one brother, Daniel Gutierrez of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Dolores Lapka of Great Bend; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Mounkes, Alberta Delgado and Lucille Zero; one brother, Ishmael Gutierrez; and one grandson, Christopher Jacob Kern.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with Mark Tomlin officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home.
