LARNED — Kathleen Mary Spayd, 66, died July 11, at her home in Larned. Born July 11, 1945, in Detroit Mich., she was the daughter of George and Helen Watson Gierschke. A resident of Larned since 2000, she was employed at the Larned State Hospital. On July 31, 1965, she married Elbert Lee Spayd and later divorced.

Other survivors include friend, Neil Mcnerney of Larned; one son, Arthur Spayd of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Carolyne Kathleen Price of Blue Springs, Mo., Susanne Waters of Lebanon, Ore., and Melinda Spayd of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Ginny Furlong, Debbie Budry, Margie King, all of Michigan; and one brother, George "Doc" Gierschke of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, at Morell Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Singer presiding, Cremation will take place immediately following. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to Pawnee County Humane Society or donors choice in care of the funeral home.
