Kay Delaine Krouse, 72, passed away November 24, 2021, at University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. She was born on July 5, 1949, at Concordia, to Delmar & Mildred Elaine (Durham) Cox. Kay married Steven Krouse on June 12, 1971, and were blessed with 3 daughters. They later divorced.
A Great Bend resident since 1989, Kay was a paraprofessional for Barton County Special Services from
2005-2020. She had also previously been a teacher and librarian for Otis-Bison school district from 1971-2005. She loved teaching and tutoring students. Kay received her bachelor’s degree from Bethany College and her master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Great Bend and Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators. Kay enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, spending time with her dogs and especially loved playing games with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning as well.
Survivors include three daughters, Kimberly Kay Krouse of Overland Park, Kristi Lynn Mason and husband Richard and Karyl Elaine Wahlmeier and husband Jesse, all of Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Sydney Mason, Teagan Mason, Evan Mason, Kaylin Wahlmeier and Keaton Wahlmeier. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Tim Bever presiding. Interment will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021, at Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf, Kan. Memorials have been designated to the ASPCA or Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
