Kenneth Ray Guthrie, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 12, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 26, 1931, in Jennings, Okla., he was the son of James H. and Lillie Mae (Casey) Guthrie. On Dec. 27, 1955, he married Verda DeYoung in Palco. A resident of Great Bend since 1962, coming from Hill City and Plainville, he was the owner and operator of Guthrie Trailer Sales Inc., in Great Bend.
Mr. Guthrie was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Great Bend.
Survivors include wife, of the home; two sons, Kerry Guthrie and his wife Roberta, and Mark Guthrie and his wife Denise, both of Great Bend; one daughter, Cindy Divine and her husband Dave of Douglasville, Ga.; one sister, Ardetha Christiansen and her husband Bob of Ponca City, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Ryan Guthrie and his wife Nicole of Baltimore, Md., Shane Guthrie and his wife Leah of Pawnee Rock, Tiffany Guthrie and fiancé Eric Schoendaler of Great Bend, Jeremy Guthrie and his wife Diane of Great Bend, Dustin Guthrie and his wife Kaci of Cascade, Colo., Blake Guthrie and his wife Lauren of Andover, Brandon Divine and his wife Jerah of Winston, Ga., Brianna Collum and her husband Dave of Douglasville, Ga., and Brett Divine and his wife Elysia of Winston, Ga.; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Lloyd Guthrie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the First Assembly of God in Great Bend with Pastor Dave Divine and Pastor Dwight Dozier officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today at Bryant Funeral Home.
