Kristin Jean Weis 1947 - 2017

RICHARDSON, Texas — Kristin Jean Weis, 70, passed away April 14, 2017. Born Jan. 24, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa she was the daughter of Don and Jean Jensen. She was the oldest of six children and grew up in Ellinwood. On Jan. 18, 1969, she married George W. Weis in Ellinwood. She graduated from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) with a BS Degree in English in 1971. After moving to Richardson, Texas in 1978 she began her 28 years of teaching English at Lake Highlands High School. She received a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts at Southern Methodist University in 1982. Teaching was a life long passion. For ten years she was the Sponsor for the Lake Highlands Girl’s Service League. Not only did she teach during the week, she also taught Sunday School on Sunday.
Kris was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She believed God and family were the foundation for a meaningful and fulfilling life. Her dreams were fulfilled when she was blessed in 2002 with a granddaughter Megan who brought new joy into her life.
Survivors include her husband, George Weis; daughter, Arianna Shehane, son-in-law, Nathan Shehane and granddaughter, Megan of Wylie, Texas; sister, Kathryn Jensen of Topeka; brother, Jon Jensen and sister-in-law, Paula Jensen of Topeka;. brother, Josh Jensen of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law, Sally Jensen of Great Bend; sister-in-law, Karen Simenson and brother-in-law, David Simenson of Huntington Beach, Calif.; nieces and nephews include Jennifer Graves, Robyn Simenson, Rebecca Jensen, Rachel Jensen, Justin Jensen, Michael Simenson and Zack Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jean Jensen; a sister, Karen Ireland; and brother, Jeffrey Jensen.
